Cancellation and Refund Policy (plain version)
Last updated October 17, 2026
This is the plain version. The legal version has the same numbered sections and gives you the same rights in formal language. If the two ever seem to say different things, the reading that is better for you applies.
1. The short version
We want members who are happy, not stuck. You can cancel online at any time with one click. If you ask within 7 days of being charged, you get that money back, no questions asked. You keep the games you paid for.
2. How to cancel
- Online: on your account page, choose Cancel membership. That one click cancels it. There is no confirmation screen, no offer to talk you out of it, no phone call and no question to answer. If you change your mind, choose Keep membership before your paid time runs out.
- By email: write to us from the email on your account and we will cancel for you, then confirm by email.
If you joined through Google Play or the App Store, cancel in that store's subscription settings (section 8).
3. What happens when you cancel
- You won't be charged again.
- Your membership keeps going until the end of the month or year you already paid for.
- After that, you keep the newest release that came out while you were a member, on any device you sign in on. Games on your devices keep working offline.
- Your account stays, so you can rejoin at any time. To remove it completely, delete it from your account page.
4. Refunds we always give
These apply unless we closed your account for breaking our Terms (section 15 of the Terms).
- Within 7 days of any charge. Changed your mind after joining, or after a renewal? Ask within 7 calendar days and we will refund that charge in full.
- You forgot to cancel. If you meant to cancel and haven't used your membership since your last renewal, we will refund up to your last 3 monthly charges, or your last yearly charge.
- Our mistakes. A double charge, a wrong amount, or a charge after you cancelled is always refunded in full, however long ago it happened.
5. Refunds we look at case by case
- Yearly plans after 7 days. If you ask later in the year, we will usually refund the full months you have left.
- Outages. If Hestia Games is down for a long time (several hours on a day, or several days in a month), we will add free time to your membership or refund part of that period.
- Anything else: tell us what happened. We would rather be fair than strict.
6. What a refund changes
A refund gives back the money for a period, so it also gives back that period:
- your membership ends when the refund is made, unless you ask us to leave it running until the end of the period;
- the releases you keep are the ones from the months you paid for and didn't get back.
7. Households and free memberships
- Refunds go to the person who paid, which is the household owner. If the owner's membership ends, everyone in the household keeps the version they had.
- Free memberships cost nothing, so there is nothing to refund. They follow the same keep-your-version rule when they end.
8. App store purchases
If you joined through Google Play or the App Store, that store took the payment, so cancellations and refunds go through the store under its rules. We can't refund those charges ourselves.
9. Disputed charges
If a charge looks wrong, please email us before you contact your bank. We can usually fix it faster. A charge reversed through your bank (a chargeback) is treated the same as a refund under section 6.
10. How to ask, and how you're paid
Email us from the address on your account, saying which charge it is. We reply within 2 business days. Refunds go back to the card or account you paid with, through Stripe, and usually show up within 5 to 10 business days, depending on your bank.
